Successful applicants, winners of the contest – people with higher education – will be enrolled in the unique English-speaking program «Master of Sport Administration» (MSA) out of the funds of the Foundation. The amount of individual donation is around 1 million rubles and includes cost for education and accommodation in the university campus. The Foundation is keen to encourage and stimulate innovative practices in education, and the MSA program is the first Russian program in sports management at such a high level.

«We hope the University will become the center of training a new generation of sports managers not only for Russia but for all the states appreciating Olympic ideas and values. Representatives from 13 countries are winners of the contest, those who received the Foundation grants to pay for their education. These people are not dreamers or theorists, but specialists whose life is closely connected with sport, for example, the Olympic champion in swimming Otylia Jedrzejczak, – pointed out Larisa Zelkova, The Vladimir Potanin Foundation Director General. – This year intake is really special and exceptional: students will have a unique chance to combine theory with practice, as they will get an experience in organizing and staging large international competitions – the program provides practical work in the Organizing Committee «Sochi 2014» during the Olympic Games. The Olympic University is a strategic project which is not limited to one competition or one country, it is the contribution of our foundation to the development of Russian sport and world Olympic movement».

The Foundation program will enable the Russian International Olympic University to participate in training managerial elite for Russian and international Olympic movement and sports industry in the near future. It is particularly important in the run up to the XXII Olympic winter games and XI Paralympic winter games 2014 in Sochi. Rector of the University, professor Lev Belousov said: «RIOU is the first and the only Olympic university in the world where representatives from all continents will study and teach. Today many countries need the new generation sports managers who know up-to-date technologies of management and who can put them into practice. The Foundation scholarships will enable students of the university – people with a certain sports background – to use this knowledge in making their career and in the development of sports industry of their countries».
